Collaborated surgery – Dr. Ahmed Al-Sawaf

A Collaborated surgery that took 10 hours enabled a paralyzed patient to walk again. The patient had hemiplegia and a huge tubercular abscess in the chest, pressing on the heart and lung, which led to the shattering of the vertebrae in the back. The vertebrae were stabilized and the pressure on the spinal cord was removed by the consultant neurosurgeon, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sawaf. Then The abscess was removed from the chest by the consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Mustafa, and with the support of Dr. Hamada Al-Samman, head of the anesthesia department. The patient was discharged and, thank God, in an improved condition, he slept and walked on his feet.
